Discover a fascinating pair of original letters from October 1948, offering a unique glimpse into post-WWII American business and personal decisions. The first letter, penned by 'Bill' from Detroit, Michigan, on October 12, 1948, is a detailed business proposal addressed to 'Nora'. It discusses ambitious plans involving a 'Washington Bank', the 'Marshall Plan', and the formation of a company, with mentions of investments, shares, and a meeting at 'The Palmer House' in Chicago. This document provides valuable insight into the entrepreneurial spirit and economic landscape of the immediate post-war era, referencing a major historical initiative.

The second letter, dated October 18, 1948, is Nora's thoughtful reply from Madisonville, Tennessee, where she declines Bill's offer. Nora, identified as Nora Kefauver, mentions her address in Washington D.C., and discusses personal circumstances such as giving up her apartment, leaving Philadelphia, and her desire to live in New York, while also alluding to a potential 'new venture'. The letters show visible folds, consistent with being mailed and stored, and some minor age-related toning, which adds to their authentic vintage appeal. This duo of correspondence is a compelling piece of historical ephemera, perfect for collectors interested in 1940s business, social history, or personal narratives from a pivotal decade.

This item is from the family estate of Tennessee Senator Estes Kefauver. Estes also ran for President and vice President with Stevenson against Nixon/Eisenhower. At one time there was a fire in part of his childhood home. So this item may have some soot staining, discoloration/staining, creasing, has wear around the edges, may have a musty odor from storage with normal estate wear. Please see pictures/scans for more details. We have a large amount of ephemera from the Kefauver estate listed and or will be listing.

This was sent to his sister Nora whom also helped campaign for him.

We have another letter correspondence that was with these available in separate listing.
